
Reliance Communications has reported an 86 per cent increase in profits from Rs 1.08 billion for the quarter ended December 2013 to Rs 2.01 per cent for the corresponding quarter in 2014. This was on account of an increase of 5.4 per cent in revenues from Rs 51.57 billion to Rs 54.35 billion during the same period.
The growth in profits was also supported by a 13 per cent year-on-year decline in its net finance costs to Rs 6.52 for the quarter ended December 2014. Meanwhile, the company remained free cash flow positive in October-December 2014 quarter and posted an operational cash flow of Rs 18.51 billion.
For its Indian operations, RCOM reported an increase of 8.33 per cent in profits from Rs 8.04 billion for the quarter ended December 2013 to Rs 8.71 billion in the corresponding quarter in 2014. However, its revenues from the global operations declined by 65.5 per cent from Rs 930 million to Rs 320 million for the period under review.
On the operational front, the total minutes of use on the company?s network stood at 103.4 billion during the reported quarter, while the average realisation per minute increased by 7 per cent year-on-year to Re 0.43. This resulted in improved average revenue per minute from Rs 117 in October-December 2013 to Rs 128 in October-December 2014.
RCOM?s data services contributed 23.5 per cent to its total revenues for the quarter ended December 2014. The total data traffic on the operator?s network increased by 84.5 per cent, from 27.24 billion minutes in October-December 2013 to 50.25 billion minutes in October-December 2014. Further, the total data customers stood at 37.4 million as of December 2014, registering a 27 per cent year-on-year increase. Out of these, around 12.9 million customers were 3G subscribers.
