Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has been selected by New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) for rolling out Wi-Fi network in Central Delhi. The Wi-Fi network will be build in the area falling under NDMC?s jurisdiction and will be completed by June 2015. The telecom operator will use street light pillar to install Wi-Fi equipment for the launch of the service.

Under the Digital India initiative, the government will provide Wi-Fi services to the top 25 cities with population of over one million by June 2015.

RJIL holds spectrum in the 1800 MHz band across 14 circles and also has pan-India spectrum in the 2300 MHz band. The company is planning to launch its 4G services in 2015.
