The state-run telecom operators, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited will not participate in the upcoming spectrum auctions scheduled in March 2015. According to the PSUs, there is no requirement for additional spectrum at present.
The two companies had also not participated in the previous spectrum auctions held in November 2012, March 2013 and February 2014.
The March 2014 auctions will be held for the frequency airwaves in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands and the government is targeting revenues of more than Rs 1 trillion.
