Vodafone India has asked the Department of Telecommunications to immediately allocate the spectrum won by the telecom operator in the 1800 MHz band in February 2014 auctions. It has asked for allocation of spectrum in this band in the Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata circles.

Vodafone is required to vacate spectrum in the 900 MHz band in circles where it could not re-acquire spectrum in the February 2014 auctions as licences in these circles are due to expire in November 2014Consequently, Vodafone will have to shift its customers from currently used frequency airwaves in the 900 MHz band to newly acquired spectrum in the 1800 MHz band.

Also, the operator has asked for an extension to the expiry date of its licence in the 900MHz band in the three circles by six months from the date of the allotment of newly acquired spectrum in the 1800 MHz band.
