The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has urged the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to expedite the approval process regarding the allotment of frequency airwaves. COAI has also requested DoT for faster approvals for international gateway testing and merger proposals between companies. Further, it has requested that the letter of intent for the unified licences should be issued for smooth rollout of services in the country.
COAI has urged for the resolution of the legacy issues between the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and DoT. Moreover, it wants the telecom department to execute the pending tripartite agreements entered into by the telecom operators along with the banks and the government to take loans with the telecom licence as collateral.
