
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has awarded a contract to Israel-based 4G broadband wireless systems and solutions provider, Airspan Networks for the supply of low-powered, short-range towers for the deployment of 4G services in India. RJIL is reported to have ordered equipment called small cell wireless emitting points.
RJIL has planned the launch of the 4G services by December 2014. In this regard, the company has deployed about 25,000 regular base transceiver stations on towers and plans to add about 100,000 sites, including small cells, by the end of 2014.
