
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has awarded a unified licence to Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL). With this, the operator can use any technology to provide telecom services.
RJIL has paid an entry fee of Rs 16.73 billion for the unified licence. Currently, RJIL holds 20 MHz of pan-India spectrum in the 2.3 GHz band. At present, the company is testing voice over long term evolution technology using this band for offering 4G services.
