
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has signed a tower sharing deal with the state-run telecom company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). As per the deal, BSNL will lease around 4,000 mobile towers to RJIL at at a base rate of Rs 38,000 per month for ground-based towers (GBT) and Rs 24,900 per month for rooftop based towers (RBT).
It will also offer discounted rates for towers if RJIL uses at least 1,500 towers in the first year. Correspondingly, the rent for GBT will be Rs 35,000 per month and Rs 21,000 per month for RBT. Further, BSNL will provide an additional discount of five per cent for leasing of 1,000 towers within three months to Reliance Jiocomm.
RJIL has also entered into similar partnerships with Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Viom Network, American Tower Company and Ascend Telecom Infrastructure to utilise their tower infrastructure.
