Bharti Tele Ventures Limited’s (BTVL) proposal to classify it as an operating company as against its earlier structure of a holding company has hit a bottleneck with the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) putting it on hold. DoT now wants to examine the proposal in detail. The Bharti Group formerly provided cellular, fixed line, long distance, broadband and data services through two main subsidiaries ?? Bharti Cellular and Bharti Infotel ?? which were subsequently merged into BTVL. BTVL has become a fully operational integrated company.
