Samsung has introduced Samsung Z, the first commercially available smartphone powered by the Tizen platform. The device will be first made available for sale in Russia at the beginning of the third quarter of 2014. Subsequently, Samsung Z will be launched in other countries.

The smartphone functions on Tizen 2.2.1 operating system and is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor. The Samsung Z features 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card.

It also supports dual cameras (a 8 megapixel rear and a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera) and technologies such as 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, Bluetooth, GPS/GLONASS, and near field communication.

The company is yet to announce the price of the smartphone.
