Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is likely to sign a bandwidth sharing agreement with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to boost connectivity across the Northeast.

Under the pact, PGCIL will provide 400 Gbps of bandwidth to BSNL for building a network path to improve connectivity in the areas bordering China and Bangladesh.

The bandwidth sharing pact is a cost-optimisation move aimed at preventing duplication of resources between central public sector enterprises. The partnership between the two public sector units will create an alternate path for routing traffic on BSNL?s network by leveraging PGCIL?s surplus optic-fibre cable capacity in the region.

BSNL is also considering a similar tie-up with Oil India Limited to reinforce connectivity between the capitals of the northeastern states.
