Finland-based Nokia has partnered with Japan-based operator, NTT DOCOMO to collaborate on research and standardisation of 5G technologies.
Under the terms of agreement, Nokia Solutions and Networks, the network equipment division of Nokia and NTT DOCOMO will work jointly on a 5G proof of concept (PoC) system. Both the companies will initially focus on exploring the potential of the millimetre wave technology in the 70 GHz spectrum band.
Earlier, the two companies had signed a memorandum of understanding in January 2014 to jointly carry out research on future radio access experimental systems.
