Malaysia-based Wi-Max developer Green Packet has entered into an agreement with Singapore’s PacNet to take over the latter’s dormant facilities-based operator (FBO) licence. According to the deal, PacNet will transfer its FBO licence and associated wireless broadband access (WBA) spectrum rights to Green Packet’s newly incorporated company, Packet One. The transfer of the WBA spectrum will not impair PacNet’s facilities-based operations in Singapore as the company still holds all the necessary licences to operate its core businesses in the small and medium enterprises, enterprise and carrier spaces. The transfer of the FBO licence and WBA spectrum rights is, however, subject to final approval from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
