According to a report by Grand View Research, the market for operation support system (OSS) and business support system (BSS) in India and China is expected to reach $7.33 billion by 2020. The growth in the OSS/BSS market in the two countries will be driven by declining average revenue per user (ARPU) and the rapid growth in telecom subscriber base.

The research firm expects that the OSS/BSS market in India and China, which was worth $2.2 billion in 2012, will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.3 per cent between 2013 and 2020. Further, growing focus on customer relationship management (CRM) in order to ensure customer retention and loyalty will lead to investments in the OSS/BSS segment. Furthermore, the fact that service providers are offering next generation systems that require shorter time-to-market and rapid development of services is also driving the demand for OSS/BSS solutions to deliver an enhanced consumer experience.

Grand View Research forecasts that OSS/BSS market in China is expected to reach $3.45 billion by 2020, driven by the growth in the telecom sector. As customers as well as mobile network operators are looking to adopt 3G and 4G services, solutions encompassing CRM and advanced billing will gain importance.

Meanwhile, the OSS/BSS market in India is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.3 per cent over the forecast period. Uncertain regulatory environment and deferred adoption of mobile communication technologies in India may negatively impact the growth in the telecom sector and consequently, the adoption of OSS/BSS solutions.
