The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has allowed Uninor to transfer its assets to Telenor?s new company, Telewings.
Currently, Telewings holds unified licence in six circles including Uttar Pradesh East, Uttar Pradesh West, Bihar and Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat. The licences in these circles are valid for 20 years. Following, the transfer of assets, Telewings will continue to offer services under the brand name Uninor.
At the same time, Telenor Group has also received an approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to increase its stake in Telewings from 49 per cent to 74 per cent.
