With an aim to minimise their continuing losses and regain lost market share, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) are examining the option of synergising their business strategies to promote their enterprise services business.
According to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), it is important for both the operators to collaborate with each other to strengthen their market position in the telecom industry. In addition, DoT is of the view that the interoperability between BSNL and MTNL could help both the organisations offer enhanced pan-India enterprise services to clients in a cost-effective and profitable manner.
Currently, DoT is working towards identifying areas where the two state-run operators can work more closely. In fact, in October 2013, BSNL and MTNL signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their enterprise products and services portfolio across India. The services to be offered by the two operators include virtual private networks, toll-free numbers, UAN service and televoting.
