With an aim to encourage the uptake of data services, Idea Cellular has reduced tariffs for its 2G services across 22 circles by up to 90 per cent.

Following the reduction in tariffs, subscribers will be charged Re 0.20 for 10 KB of 2G data usage. In addition, the operator will offer similar data tariff plans to its 3G users, entailing a 30 per cent discount on the users? monthly data usage charges. The revised tariffs will be effective from November 15 for six months.

Commenting on the reduction in tariffs, Ambrish Jain, deputy managing director, Idea Cellular, says, ?The reduction in data tariff is aimed at catalysing data adoption amongst the masses and empowering them with the power of mobile Internet at an affordable cost.?
