With an eye on pushing data services, Vodafone India has reduced 2G mobile internet tariffs by 80 per cent. This tariff would be applicable from November 1, 2013 onwards on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Prior to this, the operator had launched these tariffs on a pilot basis in the Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles. It is now rolling out this tariff on a pan-India basis.

Under the new tariff, customers will now be charged Re 0.02 per 10 KB of data, instead of Re 0.10 per 10 KB earlier. Additionally, the customer will be charged home rates for mobile internet services while roaming.

Commenting on the development, Vivek Mathur, chief commercial officer, Vodafone India said, ?This 80 per cent reduction in mobile internet charges for customers using 2G is an important step in our strategy to drive mobile internet and we are confident that this move will facilitate in faster adoption and better usage.?
