Tthe Calcutta High Court has granted a stay order to Reliance Communications Limited (RCOM) regarding the one-time fee imposed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on the operator for holding additional CDMA spectrum. The stay is valid till April 19, 2013.

Earlier, DoT had imposed a one-time fee of Rs 17.57 billion on the operator for holding CDMA spectrum beyond 2.5 MHz. Subsequently, RCOM moved court, challenging the DoT order on grounds that it had already paid fee up-front for the spectrum and the spectrum allocated to it by DoT was as per the licence norms.
