The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) has decided to allot 4.4 MHz spectrum for the Delhi circle to Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), says news reports.

The operator will be awarded the spectrum at no additional cost. TTSL was entitled to get 4.4 MHz of start-up spectrum when it was awarded licences in 2008. It will only have to pay an entry fee for the spectrum. However, TTSL will be allocated the spectrum following the completion of the forthcoming spectrum auction scheduled to begin from November 14, 2012.

Earlier, the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal had criticised the Department of Telecommunications for delays in allocation of start-up 2G spectrum to TTSL in Delhi for nearly three years. Since, the operator does not have the start-up spectrum, it is yet to launch its GSM services.
