Faced by shrinking revenues and swelling debts for tower companies, Viom Networks has decided to go global in search of profitability.

Viom Networks is reported to be in advanced talks with telecom operators in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh to offer end-to-end tower management services. However, the names of the operators with whom Viom is likely to partner or specifications pertaining to the deals have not been disclosed yet.

Viom Networks is a joint venture between Tata Teleservices Limited and Srei Group’s Quippo.

So far, overseas operations and international tower asset acquisitions were managed by Srei-controlled Quippo while Viom’s tower management operations have been confined to India.

Experts believe that the dismal telecom scenario prevailing in the country must have prompted Viom to make a strategic shift in its business model and explore the markets abroad.
