According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Bharti Airtel has cornered around 22 per cent of the total revenue of Rs 468.91 billion earned by operators during the first quarter of 2011-12.

Bharti Airtel’s gross revenue was the highest, at Rs 102.12 billion, followed by Vodafone at Rs 68.93 billion, Idea Cellular at Rs 46 billion and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at Rs 44.27 billion.

The revenues of Reliance Communications, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Videcon and Quadrant Televentures, however fell to Rs 30.149 billion, Rs 7.50 billion, Rs 1.62 billion and 514 million, respectively.

Tata Teleservices Limited earned Rs 28.65 billion, Aircel Rs 15.41 billion, Unitech Rs 5.38 billion, Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited Rs 2.79 billion, Loop Telecom Rs 1.86 billion and S Tel Rs 385 million.

The sector?s gross revenue (of Rs 468.91 billion) has increased by a marginal 3 per cent from the previous quarter. The revenue growth stands at 13 per cent, compared to Rs 413.92 billion garnered in the same period last fiscal.

The adjusted gross revenue (AGR) on which the government charges licence fee grew by 3.56 per cent to Rs 325.89 billion in the first quarter, sequentially.
