A Delhi court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to provide the certified copy of a file pertaining to the 2G spectrum allocation case to Dr Subramanian Swamy, president, Janata Party. Swamy has alleged that the document would highlight the role of P. Chidambaram, the then Minister of Finance in the case.

Swamy, in an application filed before the court, said the file, which referred to the unified access services licences (UASL) policy regarding the sale of equity (lock-in period) was taken by the CBI in 2009, during the investigation.

However, special CBI Judge O.P. Saini asked Swamy to scrutinise the court records, after which he said that the file was not placed on record by the CBI.

The court permitted Swamy to obtain a copy of the file, after he said that the file was necessary for the case.
