The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked operators to furnish details of the 3G roaming pacts they have inked, to ensure that there is no violation of licence terms and conditions.

The regulator is examining how these companies are selling their 3G services under the agreement.

Prior to this, these 3G roaming pacts had come under the Department of Telecommunications? (DoT) scanner as well.

In July 2011, Vodafone Essar, Bharti airtel and Idea Cellular had started sharing their networks to provide seamless services to their customers.

These companies had entered into a bilateral roaming agreement to provide 3G services to customers in circles where they do not have a 3G licence.

Bharti airtel, Aircel and Reliance Communications each holds a 3G spectrum licence in 13 of the 22 telecom circles, while Vodafone has a 3G licence in 10 circles and Idea Cellular and Tata Teleservices Limited hold 3G licences in nine circles.
