Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) has written to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh regarding Kapil Sibal, Minister of Telecommunications and IT?s comments on the Comptroller and Auditor General of India?s (CAG) report on 2G spectrum allocation
On January 7, 2011, Sibal had stated that CAG?s estimate of a Rs 1.76 trillion loss to the exchequer on account of allocating 2G spectrum and licences at throwaway prices was baseless and erroneous. He added that there were no actual losses to the exchequer.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, Chandrasekhar states that Sibal?s public criticism of CAG?s report was unwarranted and unbecoming of the dignity of a Union Minister.
He also asked the Prime Minister to request Sibal recall both the press release and the presentation, which had alleged that the loss emanating from the 2G spectrum scam was zero, while adding that Sibal?s stance had wide-ranging implications on the judicial and investigative process.
