China Mobile has floated a tender inviting bids from telecom equipment vendors for Phase IV deployment of its 3G TD-SCDMA network. The company is expected to procure around 98,000 base stations for the TD-SCDMA network. In the three previous phases of TD-SCDMA network deployment, China Mobile had set up 108,000 base stations in all, with a combined investment of over $13.16 billion. A total of eight telecom equipment makers are likely to take part in the bidding in three groups separately led by the ZTE Corporation, Datang Mobile Communications Equipment and Huawei Technologies.
