Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) plans to expand its 3G services to 120 more cities across the country by December, according to news reports. Currently, the operator offers 3G services in 640 cities.
BSNL also expects to increase its subscriber base in this segment by 2.5 million by March 2011. Currently, the operator has 1.8 million 3G users on its network.
The operator has added 2.5 million mobile subscribers in October, in spite of fierce competition from new and incumbent private operators. BSNL was trailing behind private operators in terms of subscriber additions but has garnered over two million subscribers between August and October.
These additions can be attributed to the company’s recently launched tariff plans, according to company officials.
