The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has extended the deadline for completion of re-verification by the operators of their existing subscribers up to December 31, 2010.
DoT had earlier asked the operators to complete re-verification over a period of one year starting from November 01, 2009 to October 31, 2010. Telecom service providers were asked to provide details to the Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring Cells of DoT in the Licensed Service Areas on monthly basis about the re-verified customers and also provide on-line access to the scanned Customer Acquisition Forms (CAF).
The service providers approached DoT in October for extension of time citing the time involved in creation of infrastructure for re-verification. After consideration of all relevant aspects and consultation with security agencies, the time limit has been extended.
