In a reply filed with the Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), DoT has stated that Spice Communication’s net worth entitles it to get licences for only four new circles. This is in response to Spice Communications filing a lawsuit against DoT with TDSAT, questioning the department’s decision to reject its application for a pan-Indian telecom licence. According to DoT, the company has been making losses and does not have any reserves and hence, is not eligible for a pan-Indian licence.
