The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has told the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) that it will not comment on any further queries on the award of frequency spectrum, as these were policy decisions.

The CAG has also taken a close look at the decisions by Telecommunications Minister, A. Raja, including the move to allow some companies to offer mobile services on both CDMA and GSM technology platforms as well as licence allotments to new players in 2008.

In a letter to a CAG official regarding the audit of Raja?s 2008 decision, DoT secretary R Chandrashekhar has referred to the law ministry?s opinion in response to questions on the circumstances under which new licences were issued.
