Due to delays in spectrum allocation by the regulator, Egypt-based mobile service operator Mobinil has postponed, by about two and a half months, the launch of 3G services as well as the payment of the EGP 750 million licence fee. The services are now expected to be launched in July 2008. Mobinil, in which Egypt’s Orascom Telecom owns 33.1 per cent stake and France Telecom owns 36.3 per cent stake, was expected to receive access to the required spectrum in January. However, the radio frequencies were not released until March.
