The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is learnt to have permitted British Telecom (BT) to cede its national and international long distance (STD and ISD) services licences acquired in 2007. DoT has said that the Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) of Rs 25 million each submitted to obtain the licences will be retained. However, the Financial Bank Guarantee (FBG) of Rs 200 million each for the two licences submitted by the company will be released, only after ensuring clearance of all dues, which BT is liable to pay.
