Mobile operators have requested for additional time to install equipment that can monitor services on BlackBerry handsets. Operators have informed the government that while they can monitor the BlackBerry messenger service, they do not have the facilities to track enterprise services. Tata Teleservices Limited, however, was the only operator to have sent a compliance letter to the government ahead of deadline, September 22. Meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is learnt to be open to grant an extension to the operators.
