Bhutan’s second largest operator by subscribers, TashiCell intends to achieve nationwide coverage by 2011. TashiCell has launched its network in Zhemgang, taking its wireless coverage to 12 of the 20 districts. The operator plans to extend coverage to the districts of Trongsa and Bumthang in October 2010. TashiCell has received a subsidy of $1 million from the Bhutan Information Communications and Media Authority to help expand its services to the remotest parts of the country.
