Chunghwa Telecom plans to deploy gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) for the first time in 2010. The company will spend about TWD12.8 billion on fibre deployments in 2010 alone, including the procurement of GPON equipment. Taiwanbased vendors are likely to benefit from the expansion project as Chunghwa plans to allocate 65-70 per cent of the projected capital for purchases from domestic suppliers.
