The Turkish government has introduced mobile number portability (MNP) more than 18 months after it was expected to be implemented. The former monopolist operator, Turkcell, which now has a 55 per cent market share, dominates the country’s mobile market. Smaller competitors Vodafone and Avea are, however, hopeful that MNP can help them win market share from their rival. All three firms have launched promotional campaigns to coincide with the introduction of MNP.
