The Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) is planning to introduce MNP by September 2009. The regulator had earlier planned to implement the scheme in 2007 but the launch was postponed when operators opposed the high costs associated with introducing the system. According to CCK, MNP will enhance competition in the country’s telecom sector by giving consumers the flexibility to choose their service provider in a seamless manner.
