Uganda Telecom is investing over $10 million in the expansion of its NGN. The company has teamed up with Huawei to replace 33 remote line units spread across Uganda with new softswitches for better services. The new system will be more data oriented and will be made up of a central information management centre and multi-service access network, which will make provision of services faster and easier. Huawei will also supply seven new CDMA landline sites, which will give Uganda Telecom the capacity to provide more landline services. The existing sites will also be transferred from the wireless loop to the NGN.
