Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) plans to invest up to $ 30 billion over next five years in its various ventures, including its telecommunications business, according to news reports.

It is believed that the company would invest $ 4.5-4.7 billion in telecommunications. In so far, RIL has already spent $ 2.8 billion on acquiring 4G licenses and spectrum, which it obtained in 2010 through the acquisition of Infotel Broadband Services.

Infotel was the only entity to get a pan-India license in the broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum auction of 2010. RIL is currently in the process of finalising arrangement with leading global technology players, service providers, infrastructure providers, application developers, device manufacturers and others for its 4G telecom service offerings.
