UAE-based telecom operator du has selected Nortel to deliver a next-generation network (NGN) solution to enable it to deliver “anytime, anywhere” IP Centrex and multimedia services across a wider geographical area in the country. du’s NGN expansion includes the deployment of Nortel’s Communication Server 2000 IP multimedia softswitch and Media Gateway 15000, allowing the operator to grow its geographical footprint and provide media and telecom services across the UAE, as well as deliver new communications services such as unified communications and IP power business services based on the session IP technology. The agreement with Nortel includes fully managed services from Nortel’s Global Services portfolio, including building and operating the system and knowledge transfer.
