MTNL has invited sealed bids from eligible Indian ILD operators for routing its international traffic to various destinations across the world. At present, the operator’s international traffic is routed mainly by Tata Communications. The fresh invitation from MTNL implies that it is looking at other ILD operators who can carry its outgoing ILD traffic at a cheaper rate than what it pays now. BSNL has already decided to participate in the tender. Other operators likely to participate include Bharti Airtel and RCOM.
