The Nepalese government has given permission to state-owned telecom service provider Nepal Telecom to provide full mobility to its CDMA customers. However, the facility was denied to United Telecom Limited (UTL), a joint venture between Nepal Venture and three Indian telecom players ?? Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and Tata Consultants India Limited (TCIL). UTL provides limited mobility CDMA services. According to sources, the government has no plans to grant permission for full mobility CDMA services to other telecom service providers.
