
The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has reportedly given its approval to national fixed line operator Nepal Telecom and private internet service providers to offer high speed broadband access services based on ADSL and dial-up technologies. NTA has also fixed monthly tariff rates for the proposed ADSL services.
The monthly charge for unlimited dial-up internet service at 128 kbps has been fixed at NPR 900. The cost of an unlimited 256 kbps connection will be NPR 1,500, while a 512 kbps connection will be available for NPR 2,700 per month, 1 Mbps for NPR 5,000 and 2 Mbps for NPR 9,000.
