
Ericsson has signed network expansion agreements worth $1.44 billion with two Chinese mobile operators, China Mobile and China Unicom. According to the terms of the $1.3 billion GSM expansion deal with China Mobile, Ericsson will supply core and radio network equipment, along with related technical support and services, to expand the operator’s GSM/GPRS coverage and capacity in 19 regions across China. Under the $140 million agreement with China Unicom, Ericsson will help expand its GSM network in 10 regions across China. Ericsson will also supply multimedia solutions for WAP services to enable China Unicom to provide new multimedia services and applications.
