The government has received cumulative bids of Rs 1,050.0 billion at the end of the fifteenth day (March 20, 2015) and 92 rounds of the ongoing spectrum auctions. The cumulative amount was much lower than the amount received on the previous day, Rs 1,090.0 billion.
So far, about 88 per cent of the spectrum on sale has been provisionally allocated. According to the Department of Telecommunications, most service areas are going at a premium over the reserve price and robust bidding is being witnessed in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency bands.
In the 900 MHz band, high bidding activity was witnessed in the Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (East) and Uttar Pradesh (West) circles. Meanwhile in the 1800 MHz band, aggressive bidding was seen for spectrum in the Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh circles. In the 800 MHz band, maximum bidding activity was seen for the Northeast circle. Meanwhile, the low demand was witnessed for spectrum in all circles in the 2100 MHz band.
