The Vodafone Group is in talks with the MTN Group to buy a stake in the latter’s international operations. The move follows the South African government’s refusal to allow Vodafone to buy a further stake in the Vodacom Group, which Vodafone jointly owns with Telkom South Africa. The proposed deal will not include MTN’s operations in South Africa, where it competes with Vodacom.
