CAT Telecom is considering offering mobile virtual network operator MVNO) services in Thailand once the concessions it has granted to Thailand-based GSM operators Total Access Communications Company (DTAC) and True Move, expire. Under the MVNO model, CAT intends to form alliances with DTAC and True Move to provide mobile phone services in the country. A joint-venture company will be set up with CAT acting as the MVNO and the private operators acting as marketers. The revenue will be shared according to the shareholdings. At present, CAT relies heavily on revenue-sharing payments from mobile operators, accounting for 55 per cent of CAT’s revenue.
