Nokia and New India Assurance (NIA) have entered into an agreement as part of which NIA will be providing insurance coverage to users buying Nokia handset.

The insurance coverage provided by NIA will safeguard users against thefts, and riots ? acts which are beyond the purview of the standard warranty extended to customers at the time of purchase of a product. With a minimum insurance premium of Rs 50, the plan will cost 1.25 per cent of the purchased handset?s value.

The insurance coverage will be made available beginning March 14, 2013 for all the Nokia devices purchased through Nokia?s branded retail stores. Currently, the insurance plan is being offered in Delhi and the National Capital Region, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Cochin.
