
Ericsson has won an order from Japan’s NTT DoCoMo for base station development of a mobile network standard called long-term evolution. According to Ericsson, the network standard allows enhanced features such as mobile video, blogging, advanced gaming and multimedia applications. Meanwhile, NTT DoCoMo hasagreed to lease access to its cellular network to the telecommunications venture, Japan Communications Incorporated, following an intervention by Japan’s communications ministry. If negotiations succeed, Japan Communications aims to launch its cellular services in 2008-09.
