Brazilian telecommunications firm Oi has signed $568 million worth of contracts with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Huawei Technologies for the installation of 3G wireless infrastructure across 18 states of Brazil. According to the terms of the contracts, the nucleus of the 3G network will be supplied by NSN. While NSN will supply half of the equipment, Huawei will provide the remainder. Oi intends to put its network in place by the end of 2008.
